Launched in Melbourne Australia in 2005, Emc2 is a unique experience in music education. We are currently operating from
the renowned Moulton Media center (M2) in San Francisco. Come
collaborate with EDM producers Chris Lum (Moulton Media) and Homero Espinosa (Yerba Buena Discos) and work side by side in small groups or one on one is this professional learning environment.
A Grammy nominated dance music producer, Chris Lum is also an artist, engineer, remixer and DJ with varied experience in the industry. From retail to traveling DJ, producer to publisher, Chris has lived deeply in the global house music community for over 15 years.
Homero Espinosa has been in the bay area EDM scene since the early 1990's. He found his niche in the northern california rave culture as one of the few DJ's playing underground house music in a scene dominated by Trance and Euro pop music.
His resume includes experience in music production, event promotions, engineering, label management, and marketing.
Using techniques applied and developed over ten years of producing electronic music this
course will provide you the opportunity to learn basic production and professional skills in a
real world setting. You will be actively engaged in taking a track from
conception to completion during 24 hours of class time. You will learn by
doing, seeing and hearing in this hands on environment. Our aim is to
have every student take an active part in shaping all parts of the
composition. This unique project in education will help launch your dreams of
creating, defining and playing the music that beats in your heart.
The experience at EMC2 will give you creative insight and techniques in:
• Sampling and sample editing
• Understanding and editing basic Midi
data
• Using instruments and keyboards
• Choosing and/or creating
sounds
• Recording, editing and bouncing audio
files
• Sequencing
• Creating interesting and dynamic arrangements
• Using and understanding effects in creating a more dynamic song
• The
importance of the mix-down process
• Preparing your music for professional
environments
• The importance of being creatively different
EMC2 sessions consists of four 6 hour days. Our sessions are offered in two formats: Two consecutive weekends or four consecutive days.
Course hours for all classes are from 10:30am to 6:00pm.

*This course is for people at a beginner skill level. However, we ask that
you have a rudimentary understanding of computers and operating systems, as
basic computer questions and theory will not be addressed in this condensed
course.
The course will be taught using Logic Pro Audio and a variety of outboard gear and software synths. Additional information regarding our facility and equipment available upon request.
EMC2 courses are limited to 6 students. If a group learning environment is
not for you, EMC2 also offers one on one workshops and consultation services.
